Grayslake resident Bryan Gutraj is taking a second stab at getting elected to the Lake County Board.

Running as a Republican, Gutraj wants the county board District 6 seat occupied by Donald Bauer of Round Lake Park. Bauer also is a Republican in District 6, which mostly covers the Grayslake and Round Lake areas.

County board primaries are slated for March 16

Gutraj, 28, took his first shot at elected office in 2002 when he attempted to topple county board veteran Sandy Cole of Grayslake in the GOP primary. He said he learned from the unsuccessful experience.

"This time around, I have a full six months to campaign, and I am not going against an entrenched incumbent," Gutraj said this week.

Gutraj said the issues he'll focus on in the campaign include traffic congestion, diversifying Lake County's tax base and the environment.

As a certified public accountant, Gutraj said he'll be able to provide financial acumen to the county board.
